Are you afraid of having Dental Implants?

What are Dental Implants?

Dental Implants are titanium screws that are placed in the jaw bone. A post is then secured to the dental implant and either a crown, bridge or denture can be fixed to this.

The advantages of implants:

  • The titanium screws act like a root making the crown more stable
  • Some people can be allergic to the materials that are used to create dentures whereas implants are completely bio-acceptable
  • Speech is generally better with implants as dentures can be quite irritating and they have to be removed at night.
  • There are no sore points with implants as they do not move
  • Your ability to chew is completely restored

How Long Does Dental Implant Treatment Take?

How long do dental implants take to do?

One of the most advanced and natural way of replacing teeth are dental implants. Over ten million teeth implants have been placed in the USA alone and the numbers are growing every year.

So what is a dental implant?

A dental implant is an artificial substitute/replacement for the root portion of your natural tooth and is anchored into a pre-drilled socket in your jaw-bone to support a crown, bridge or secure a denture firmly in place. Implants are made from titanium, a material that is well tolerated by bone and integrates easily with bone tissue. During the placement of a dental implant, the goal is to achieve a close contact between the outer surface of the implant and the surrounding bone tissue so they can “fuse” together  creating a stable support for the new teeth. The time frame to complete a dental implant is usually 3-6 months.
