Aftercare Advice From Perfect Smile Spa
Our Support Doesn't End After Treatment!
The success of a dental procedure doesn’t end after the treatment is completed. The right aftercare ensures that the healing process is successful, as comfortable as possible for you, and ensures the results of the treatment remain at a high standard.
When you come in to us for treatment we will provide you with full, individual aftercare advice that you need. However, there are also some general aftercare tips you may find useful following a treatment with us:
General Aftercare Advice
- Local Anaesthetic - If we have used local anaesthetic to provide you with pain-free treatment you should expect the effects to wear off after 3-4 hours at the most. We recommend you avoid eating or drinking for half an hour after treatment and then refrain from chewing anything or drinking anything really hot until the feeling has returned to your lips, cheeks and tongue. This helps to avoid biting or harming soft tissue and causing damage.
- Painkillers - Ibuprofen and paracetamol can be a good way to manage pain following treatment that may have left you with soreness. Please always follow the instructions given by the manufacturers and your doctor’s guidance.
- Cleanliness - Try to keep the area surrounding the dental work done as clean as possible following treatment. Maintain oral hygiene as per the instructions given to you by our Essex team.
- Lifestyle - With a lot of treatments that require your mouth to heal, avoiding excessive drinking or any smoking at all is a good idea. These habits can affect the success of certain treatments and may result in a delayed healing process.
